Reference is made to our letter of 2 May 1966, which
disapproved ECP-56. Based on the reasons given in Nat's
transmittal. letter for ECP-56, Rev, A, we now find this
proposal acceptable and approve it. Request that you
provide the contractor with formal authority to proceed with
ECP-56, Rev. A..

It is our strong recommendation that further consideration
be g:wen the subject ECP-56.
On the Prototype equipment there has been very little field
experience in using the Transponder with the Receiver Tester
and -therefore the existing handbook procedures .have not been
fully evaluated. Experience on'our Production factory testers
-shows this to be a highly desirable change.
We are resubmitting GR-56 as GR-56, Rev. A, and eliminating
the Engineering-costs which are essentially complete. It
is proposed the kits be fabricated against CW 6644 (FY ?66,
5erv:~ce Contract) as an allowable item of cost. ~ a.-~-o~

We are not proceeding on kit fabrication. Your approval to
proceed on GR-56, Rev. A, is requested.
