SECRET Approved For Relwse 2002/05/06 : CIA-RDP72-00341R000070121-2 DD/S 5 April 1966 1. DD/I Office--Refurnishing: Jack Smith complained to me that an 25X1A inordinate amount of time had been spent on the plans to refurnish his office and he would like to get moving as quickly as possible. I calle who admitted that because of pressure of work this project had been delayed. I asked him to speed up the project which he subsequently did and the rearrangement of the suite is now going forward. * 2. OCS-ADP Program: Today I met with Colonel White, Dr. Wheelon, and Mr. Smith concerning the status of OCS and the ADP programs. Dr. Wheelon made a presentation on the status of the programs and pointed out there was an absense of program and policy direction for the, Agency ADP program. It was agreed that the DD/P WALNUT program and NPIC program would remain separate as they presentl stand. The DD/S program was affirmed as it presently stands; namely, alroup devising the DD/S systems with OCS providing the computer service. It was proposed that the DD/I CHIVE program be set up on the same lines as the DD/S program and to this end Wheelon would transfer back to OCS those program specialists similar to thelroup now working on the CHIVE program. It was further agreed that Mr. Becker would be assigned as an ADP coordinator to the staff of Mr. John Clarke, PPB. A new chief and deputy would be appointed to head up OCS with s the most logical person for the position of chief with a DD/ programs technician as deputy. Jack Smith advised he was unfamiliar with the demands of his program and he would have to check out these proposals with his staff, but as offered he saw no objection to these programs.
