DIARY NOTES
DD/S 20 January 1966
1. Colonel White raised a question concerning certain personnel
who resign in lieu of termination through the abolishment of their positions.
He wants to be sure that this practice is not being abused. In addition, he
asked whether any JOT's had returned from Saigon for termination. There
appears to be a rumor going around and we want to check it out.
2. This office was advised today tha would not be
going to the Advanced Management Program at arvar . I checked with Des
FitzGerald who advised that had just been nominated for a Chief of
Station position. The timing o t e Harvard course and the overt nature of
the course would not fit with his new assignment. He apologized for making
this decision so late in the game. I called John Richardson, Chairman of
the Training Selection Board, and advised him th the
alternate, could not go because of personnel changes taking place on his
staff and the reorganization within DD/P, which would require his full time.
I recommended that the candidate for the fall session at Harvard, John
be sent to this course. If s not available, the
hold a special meeting and se ec as new candidate.
