Buckley, Administrative Assistant to Representative Dante Fascell (D. , Fla. ), that I had talked with our people about our association with I added, however, that circumstances were such that we would prefer the Congressman said nothing more specific than a general statement to the effect that had served his country in many ways, including assistance in matters affecting the national security. Buckley said he expected this would be the case and appreciated our looking into it. 2. (Confidential - GLC) Talked with Don Henderson, on the staff of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, about his query concerning the organization called Promoting Enduring Peace, Incorporated. I told him that this was an internal U. S. matter on which we had no direct information and suggested that without referring to us he contact the FBI,, Henderson thanked me for this suggestion and said that he had already advised Senator Fulbright not to accept an award from the organization. 3. (Confidential - GLC) Talked with Kathy Nelson, on the staff of Senator Stuart Symington (D. , Mo.), about the Senator's letter of 25 February 1969 on the Greek situation which appeared in the Italian newspaper "L'Unita" on 26 November 1969 merely addressed "Dear George. " Miss Nelson said this letter was :ot written to George Papadopolous as it had been alleged, but was written to a lawyer friend of the Senator's here in Wash-agton (whose name she provided) and was subsequently made public. 4. (Secret - JGO) In conversation with Mr. Ralph Preston, House Appropriations Committee staff, h .~ummary of the Agency's 1971 budget for the Chairman's usL .ding to Mr. John Clarke, OPPB, I discussed the matter further with Mr. Preston who advised that a brief one- or two-page summary would be adequate for the present.
