REFERENCE: Mr. Carver's Memo dtd 27 August 69, Subject:
Suggested Request for Material to be Levied on
25X1 1. Per agreement with the Director I phoned I this
25X1 morning at 10:45, mentioned his offer to the Director of making
available any pertinent material in this case that he might have
and which would be of interest to us, and asked Nether
we could indeed have copies of such material. I specifically
referred to the items underlined in paragraph 1 of Mr. Carver's
memorandum of 27 August and made special reference to transcript
of testimony.
25X1 Z. I as very forthcoming in saying that he would
certainly check to see what was available, he said that he did of
course have certain reports of impressions, observations and
information collected by the two special emissaries of the Dept.
of Army, and added that he would see what other material might
be available. He asked whether it would give us any special
problem to go over to his office and read the material there rather
than having copies made for us. I told him that this was obviously
second best arrangement, that we would prefer the copies, but that
we would of course take advantage of the other offer if the copies
could not be made available.
