MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Intelligence
SUBJECT: Commendation
1. I would like to commend the officers who con-
structed the "mock-up" of Khe Sanh. I know they worked hard
and did this fine piece of work in the shortest possible time.
2. This noon, Mr. Clifford, General Maxwell Taylor,
and Mr. Rostow all examined the display most carefully and
made uniformly favorable comments about it. It is fair to say
that in view of his background the intense focus General Taylor
gave to the military and logistical aspects of the terrain is
a high compliment to the skill with which the work was done.
