The objectives of this project are: a) to provide rapid auto-
matic search of a large index to dossiers of interest to the Office
of Security, including maintenance and search of the file from
remote devices.on an on*-line system and b) to provide ADP support
to other day-to-day Office of Security activities.
The complete index to the Office of Security dossier file
has been automated. The file contains approximately 1. 7 million
names and is searched daily for 1, 500-2, 000 name checks. The
,file is now searched once daily in a batch mode and updated using
the same techniques. Redesign of this system is now under way to
provide for search of this file through remote devices in the Office
of Security with data on file in a time-sharing system in OCS. When
this is accomplished the need for manual files in the Office of
Security should be eliminated. Other security files are processed
as well: reports on case processing statistics and status, special
clearance status, applicant processing and badge information.
This system now interfaces with the name check activity in DDP so
that cases of interest to the Clandestine Services can be searched in
the Office of Security files as well. An additional interface with
similar activities at Fort Holabird is provided through a data
communications link.
