10. (Unclassified - GLC) Mr. McAfee, I&R of State Department,
called to say that the Department had received a request from the _e .
Foreign Relations Committee for a report on she McCarthy intelligence
inquiry resolution (S. Res. 210). He is interested in any thoughts we
might have on the subject. I told McAfee that the Agency had also received
such a request from the Committee, that we had been in touch with the
Staff Director, Carl Marcy, who saw no need for hasty action on these
routine requests and we had also been in touch with the Bureau-of the Budget
which is not disposed toward hasty action at this point. I told McAfee
I merely mentioned this as information which might be of use to them
adding that we did not pr opose to send a report to the Committee at this
time. McAfee said he was very pleased to receive this information and
expressed his feeling that the Department do likewise.
