6. 1 Delivered materials requested by Senator
Symington to him which were entirely satisfactory. He has requested
that I be in touch with him first thing Tuesday to go over his edited version
of this.
7. Talked with Senator Henry M. Jackson
furnishing him certain materials which he desired. Senator Jackson
is being most helpful in this situation.
8. Talked with Mike Manatos, it the
White House, who indicated that they were regarding this resolutior in
the Senate as strictly a family squabble and felt they could get in serious
difficulties if they were to intervene in any way. I told him we were
taking much the same position and he thought this was appropriate.
