1. Subsequent to the memo on Al Falcons prepared on
ll March 1966, the D#I requested more information on the armament
of AF aircraft operating in VN. Without a complete numerical
order of battle being obtained, the following carrying capability
has been learned:.

2. It is my understanding that until recently enemy
fighters were not a factor in South or North VN. Of the 213
total U. S. aircraft lost through 18 March, only 3 were attributed
to fighter action. Recent introduction of IG-21's and possible
future augmentations in NVN and perhaps the aircraft in
South China might change the picture in. the future.
