MEMORANDUM FOR: Inspector General
At the Morning Meeting of 28 July it was noted that
the JIIRG report had been released with the approval of
Generals Carroll and for comment by the service
agencies and by CIA. had hoped for com-
ments by 7 August. The Executive Director, however, has
directed that we take reasonable time to ensure preparation
of thoughtful and constructive comments.
The Executive Director has asked me to serve as the
focal point for developing the Agency position and comments.
It would be appreciated if you could let me have your
preliminary comments and general impressions, formal or
informal, by the close of business on 10 August -- earlier
if possible. My plan is to assemble the various Agency com-
mentaries and to arrange an initial meeting with you and
other interested Agency officers sometime next week or so
to discuss the issues further.
