The following is provided for your information only. 2. In late afternoon, 3 May 1966, this office was requested telephonically by General Geary's office to provide certain OXCART A-12 aircraft flight experience data. The data is to be used to answer five specific questions allegedly asked by the Secretary of Defense. The questions, and answers thereto, are listed below. This information is being provided to Gene al G t r Answer - 1908 flights through 30 April 1966 of which 458 were accumulated by the two place trainer aircraft limited to speeds below Mach 2.0 e. What are the total flight hours at Mach numbers of 2.0, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0, and 3.2 for each quarter? Answer - vary s office. 3. a. When was the first flight? Answer - 30 April 1962 b. When was the first supersonic flight? Answer - 9 May 1962 c. When was the first Mach 2.6 flight? Answer - 20 June 1963 d. What are the total number of flights? Prior to October 1963 flight hour duration was minimal at speeds above Mach 2.0. The following table shows hours accumulated at various Mach numbers by 27 October 1963 and additional hours accumulated in each time period indicated subsequent to that date.
