1. On this date the status
of the Air Force request for release o o several
aircraft companies for possible applicatirn in tactical operations in
South Vietnam. The query finally came to rest in this office. As you
recall, our last communication on this subject was a memorandum to
the D/NRO signed by the D/R/CIA requesting that this subject be
placed on the agenda of the next EXCOM Meeting. We have in turn
queried who states that so far as he is concerned, the
matter still awaits an EXCOM Meeting which according to his informa-
tion will be convened shortly.
2. itiv ? concern in this matter is that I would suspect that as soon
as this su_;,,ct is made an agenda item for EXCOM, OSA will be asked
to establish a position vis-a-vis security, contracts, system availability,
etc. Therefore, I request that you act as the focal point for the prepara-
tion of such a position paper at the earliest possible date.
