At the meeting of the Committee on Procurement of Foreign
Publications on Thurso' 28 July 1960, a resolution vas passed
instructing me as Che irman to convey to you the concern of the
Committee over the cc position of the group of librarians
scheduled to visit the USSR.
Our cocern centers on the fact that you are the only
member of the group with Russian language capability. it seem
incredible that a group of people concerned with library work
could benefit by looking at buildings and tables and chairs
since they obviously could do little else by direct observation.
I should predict that every member of the Russian exchange
delegation will have English lame facility.
I hope we are not too late to have the composition of the
American group reconsidered.
