Delivered to George Murphy, Joint Committee on Atomic Energy staff, an updated copy of the Alert Worksheet.l Mr. Murphy advised me that Mr. Holifield (who, under Committee rules, will be Chairman of the Joint Committee next year) has written a letter to the President on the subject of the multilateral force. His letter, which Murphy showed to me, urges that the President make no commitments with respect to the MLF this year. (See Memo for the Record for details.) 25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 2004/03/18 : CIA-RDP67B00446R000500150055-1 Approved For Release 2004/03/18 CIA-RDR67B00446R000500150055-1 Journal - Office of Legislative Counsel Page 2 Friday .. 9 October 1964 4. Advised Mrs. Holmes, in the office of Representative Carl Albert, that we had explored employment possibilities fox and it appeared doubtful the Agency would have an opening for him. 6. At his request, I met with Sam Archibald, on the staff of the Information Subcommittee of the House Committee on Government Operations. Archibald said the Subcommittee is planning an extensive study on currencies? He has talked with State Department about this and has not been particularly impressed with the information or assistance given by the Department. Archibald pointed out he did not wish to get into any Agency matters in connection with this study except to have access to any information the Agency might have on the currency problem as such. He has specifically requested access to "Reference Guide to National Intelligence Surveys" and "Annual National Prodic tion Status Report." He feels these will be useful to him in getting a better grasp of the scope of this subject. 25X1 25X1 cc: Ex/Dir-C ompt DD/S Mr. Chretien Item 2 - Item 3 - Iten PP ved For Release 20 OHN S.
