Declassified and Approved For Release 2013/05/29: CIA-RDP67-00318R000100790028-2 Frail it VU= Pane P o Papa UANCHESTER, N.H. UNION LEADER D. 46,510 MAY 131961 ..ice Apostle ? Nearly all Americans were discouraged by the abortive invasion of Castroland by Cuban exiles. But the New England pro- fessors who have urged: tht President to' "give no further support to the invasion of Cuba by exile groups" betray the fact that they never were in sympathy with the invasion of Cuba in the first'place. TRO'S SUBSEQUENT BLAST AT PRES- COMMUNIST CONNECTIONS! BUT E I'RROFESSORS: SHOW THEIR TRUE COLORS WHEN .THEY RECOM- MEND THAT THE UNITED STATES RE- SUME "TRADE RELATIONS" AND A "DIPLOMATIC ENTENTE" WITH CAS- TRO AS A MEANS OF SEVERING HIS IDENT KENNEDY: "THE IMPERIAL- ISTS ARE ORGANIZING THE THIRD WORLD WAR, WITH THE STUPID DREAM THAT HITLER ONCE HAD OF, EXTERMINATING THE INVINCIBLE S O V I E T UNION AND SOCIALISM, WHICH IS ADVANCING IN UNSTOPPA- BLE FORM FROM VICTORY TO VIC- TORY." One can only wonder how many of the New England professors who signed the statement subscribe to the muddled think- ing of Luigi Einaudi, a teaching fellow at Harvard, who said the Cuban revolution has "never been given a chance." (Einau- di did not sign the petition but he said his opinions are widely held at Harvard). The New England professors apparently even oppose military intervention in Cuba through the Organization of ? American States, for the only. positive recommenda-_ tion in their petition is a subtle pitch for more economic aid to Latin America. Com- pletely lacking : in imagination, , today's "liberals" seem to believe that the only way to halt the tide of communism is to spend more money for foreign aid. Are these people that bankrupt_ of new ideas } that : they must- revert to old worn-out -i cliches and slogans which'have long since proven to be no answer to the dynamic i nature of communism?
