1. Information contained in the attached shoot has been received

"Certificate of Membership in the United States Civil Service System".
2~ ^he amendment of 30 September 1949, is an important change in
the Retirement Act. It liberalizes the survivorship feature of the law
in two respects; (1) it grants a married woman the :acne privilege at
retirement in giving her widower an annuity upon her death as was granted
t},.(', married male employee in providing for his widow under the Act of
28 February 19/ 8; and (2) it increases the. annuity payable to the retiring
employee who elects this typo of benefit by providing that the reduction
on the first 61,500 annuity shall be five per cent ice tend of the former
ten per cent.
