plans to be in and about Washington
and the East Coast the week of July 23d. I think it would
be quite important for you to see him.
is an extremely bright and imaginative
physicist whose staff includes a number of PhD's and other
highly skilled creative engineers and scientists. The
company is concerned with the space effort and some very
advanced devices.
Dick and his group have been developing, through their
own efforts without any Government sponsorship, a device
which will eventually be so strictly classified that I am
-aware only of its most general nature, and it would be
inappropriate for me to discuss it. I have therefore
urged Dick to telephone you, as soon as this can have
reached you, for an appointment. I told him to phone you
at your house as I do not have your business address or
phone.
There is real delicacy in the subject. Naturally it would
not be proper to wander in to just anyone and start telling
his story. Of course, he has endeavored to make some con-
tacts in advance but I want to be sure he reaches the right
place and in short order. In addition this is only a part
of his business activities and he cannot afford to waste
a lot of time being shuffled around until he reaches the
right place. I am therefore most anxious for you to see
him if possible, and if you cannot see him to make sure
that he sees the right person.
