1. In response to his question of
yesterday requesting an appearance by the Director before the Senate
Foreign Relations Committee, I advised Mr. Pat Holt, of the Committee
staff, that the Director has travel plans and that I could make no com-
mitment at this time, I assured Holt, however, that we would be in
touch with him further as soon as possible,
2. Talked with Mrs. Watkins, in the
office of Representative William H. Bates, concerning the case of
advised Mrs, Watkins that we had received a letter
asking that we get in touch with him, but in view of our
conversations with the Congressmants office, felt his correspondence
had overtake we did not plan to respond t 25X1
letter in view of an imminent response from the Congressman. Mrs.
Watkins said they had contacted the Department of the Army and she
would let me know the results of that inquiry.
3. Miss Comfort, in the office of
Representative Ed Foreman, called and said they had received an
inquiry from a constituent who said he understood the Government was
interested in obtaining F-51D fighter aircraft for use in Viet Nam. She
said their constituent has fifteen of these aircraft in top condition whidh
he is ready to make available to the Government. She said she has been
in touch with the Army and Air Force who are looking into the matter,
She said she thought it was probably ridiculous to contact us on this but
nevertheless would appreciate our looking into it.
