16 April 19)46 Contacted Captain Sabalot and talked with
him briefly about this matter. He has
heard nothing about it since the Memorandum
for General Vandenberg (20 February 19116)
left Navy Department, except for indications
that Army is working on it.
The personnel and space estimates (Encl. G
and C to Memorandum of 20 February 19)46)
are very rough estimates and have no special
basis. He had to put in some figures, and
put in the figures for Navy personnel
allowances for the fiscal year 19)47. In
any joint operation, the final figures for
space and personnel would depend on the
extent of the pooling of resources, the
location (whether in same building with
command and operations, etc., or not)
etc.
The phrase "susceptible of C.I.G. action"
was written in at a time when it was
thought that C.I.G. might be an operating
agency, and has no particular meaning in
Captain Sabalot's mind at this time.
17-18 April 1946 Called Colonel McLean and finally talked
to him on phone. G-2 has been moving and
he suggests my calling again Monday, April 22
when things will be in better shape for me
to converse.
23 April 19)46 Memorandum re above subject forwarded to
Colonel Perry after discussion with
Colonel McLean relative to MID recommend-
ations and conclusions.
