The Senate Foreign Relations Committee will meet Monday
in executive session to hear evidence concerning the violence
that plagued Vice President Nixon on his visit to South Ameri-
ca. The Central Intelligence Agency and officials of the
State Department will testify behind closed doors. Senator
Wayne Morse, who is chairman of the subcommittee to inquire
into the violence in Latin America, said that:if the evidence
indicates that there is a g1pbal network of Communist trouble-
making, the investigation will be broadened and will in-
clude areas in addition to South America. Senator Morse
says that he expects, to confer with Vice President Nixon,
but the indications are that Mr. Nixon will not be asked
to testify formally.
