1. Purpose - To procure, on a monthly rental basis, Electronic Data
Processing (EDP) Equipment to provide accurate and secure transmission
of operational data from Project Headquarters to operating locations.

2. Description of work or service required -
a. The following EDP equipment is required at Project Headquarters,
Weather Central (WECEN) Offutt AFB 'Nebraska, Satellite Operations
Center (SOC), Pentagon, for the purpose of preparing and
accepting computer data a nign ra smission speeds, and in acceptable
form, to satisfy operational and communications requirements.
b. The breakdown of equipment and estimated cost follows: 25X1

3. The cost for equipment required to provide the necessary interface
between the EDP equipment hnd the communications equipment is not
included in this Activity Paper. The Communications Staff/OSA will
forward information concerning interface equipment and line :rental
at a later date.

5. This specific item was included in the OSA operational program
and funds in the amount of ere allocated to satisfy
rental of this type equipment as we 1 as other EDP peripheral gear,
(i.e., card cutter verifier and card to tape converter) and contract

6. Due to lead time required to design and/or procure communications
interface equipment and a normal lead time for obtaining the EDP
equipment the following delivery schedule is anticipated:

7. The equipment requested in this Activity Paper is the same as
presented in the Automation Branch Status Report Briefing given to
Dr and e Giller on 26 July 1963, and Colonel Ledford
and on 7 August 1963. The requested equipment

is considered essential for operational support for OSA projects.
