MEMORANDUM TO : Project Director
FROM : Project Contracting Officer
SUBJECT : Coordination Between Project AQUATONE and the
Associated Department of the Air Force Project Group.
1. The affirmative decision by the Agency to permit the Department
of the Air Force to procure (through our contractual mechanisms) certain
hardware being developed under Project AQUATONE has brought into sharp
focus the problem of coordination between Project AQUATONE personnel,
Contractor personnel and the d
i
es
gnated Air Force Project Group
2. Considerable progress has been made in the design and develop-
ment of Project AQUATONE equipment, extending over a period of more
than one year and consequently a body of technical information (specifica-
tions, progress reports, capability tests, etc.) has been built up in
AQTATONE files and. in the files of the suppliers, On the other hand,
the Air Force Project Group responsible for determining the Air Force
requirements for such equipment has only recently been made aware of
the existence of Project AQUATONE, They are attempting to bring them-
selves up-to-date on wha+, has transpired and all assistance has been
given to them by Project AQUATONE personnel, short of actually turning
over to them for their retention copies of the documents in question.
Since many of the documents are quite detailed and require detailed
study, such group would like to build up their own files of such
documents fox evaluation and reference purposes. In short, they
would like to have any extra copies we may have or that the contractors
may have or are willing to provide.
3. It is requested that you consider the above problem from the
standpoint of any policy discussions required in order that a mutually
satisfactory arrangement can be devised,
