Since that time, considerable controversy has existed among the operating offices as to the appropriateness of initiating such a procedure. Recently, with the possibility of increased Medical Staff capabilities, the matter has been referred to the Deputy Director (Plans) for final comment. Current reports indicate that the majority of the area divisions are in favor of this recommendation. How- ever, since several divisions are not, further coordination will be required.
