SUBJECT: Security Clearance for IWO
1. Attached are two copies of the current membership list of IWO,
with an indication by red check ss of those members on rrho+m the Iwo
Secretariat holds copies of security clearance issued by parent agencies.
2. You will note that such papers are not available fors

Major W. J. Phillips - G-2
Mr. Robert Raise - Commerce
Rise Helen A. Lincoln - EDS, State
Mr. Douglas Coster - IDS, State
3. The rams of Lt. Col. Moos, however, is presumably Included In
the OSD letter of 27 March 1953 from George J. Gould, Director, Security
Division, addressed to Colonel Rdwerds. A member of Major Phillips office
(Major Brinson) informed as by telephone of the contents of a clearance
an Major Phillips, which already has been dispatched to this office. Mr.
Reiss is cleared for the ZD C structure and a formal clearance from Coz meroe
on him is expected shortly. You are familiar with the situation regarding
Miss Lincoln and Mr. Coster.
4. Concerning non,.I tG members of N G Subgroups, I furnished you this
morning with the mass of Mr. Rdward Fried and Miss Marion Worthing, both
of OIR, State, and tht.t of Mr. Richard M. Kirby, Division of foreign Reporting,
State. The only other persons in this category on *o clearance Is reo ui red

All of the above-listed persons, with the exception of Messrs. Robinson and
Aces, have been called this morning and requested to furnish statements of
agen(W security clearance. All have ?aromised to do so, with the exception

of Mr. Habib, who in view of pending re--assigment of MSL personnel to
interagena? committees, has requested that he be permitted to defer
submission of such a statement of clearance. Each person but been asked
to submit an original and two copies of the statement, one cow of which
will be fora .rded to you and one to Mr. Armentrout.
5. 1 believe that the above information brings '-to-date the
security clearance situation in IWG. As soon as you have had an opport*m-
ity to check the attached membership list against your reacords, I will be

Informed me a few minutes ago that he was sending two copies of
the 27 March letter from OSD.
