LIST OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENTS
1. Submission to Acting DD/I of proposal for NSCID on Foreign
Language Publications.
2. Conclusion of discussion with State on NSCID 10 (Collection of
Scientific Intelligence Information From Overt Sources by the State De-
partment and the preparation of a report to the DCI and Special Assistant,
Intelligence, Department of State. This is now being cleared and will be
submitted to the DD/I by the middle of next week.
3. Continuation of Survey of Adec[uacy of Overt Collection Abroad
initiated as a result of the proposal for an overseas overt
collection function for CIA. Report and recommendations ready in
January. 25X1A9a
4+. DCI approved reply to State on aid for the external research
staff; letter to Deputy Secretary of Defense Foster in the same con-
nection.
5. Concurrence given by Bureau of the Budget to go ahead with
the proposed transfer of funds to State on bio ra hic intelli ence.
OCD proceeding to implement the DD/I approved plan.
6. DCI receipt of NSC request for revision of NSC 135/2 by
February 1.
