Training continue to attend a course entitled Summalry of USSR in Russian. 3. Trips -- None It. Administration The branch research program for FY 58 was reviewed and approved by members of St/PR. 5. Plans Several members of the branch have mentioned that they feel it would be helpful if they had a better understanding of the operations and problems of some of the other branches in the Division.. While we work closely with I/1N on a number of problems we have much less contact with the other branches of the Division. It is proposed, thercefore, that a series of informal meetings be arranged between T/i-ui and representatives of the other branches in D/I to discuss common methodological problems, research tec mi.ques, sources of data, recent accomplishments and planned 'tY 58 research. Discussions with VIM would be a logical starting point followed by discussions with the various military branches. We feel that such meetings would be valuable in promoting the Division's total research effort. 6. Problems -- No comments 7. Recommendations -- No comments 8. The Branch Chief I/1,2,1 was appointed a member of a working group to prepare a DD/I briefing on the value of open-source literature to the US and the USSR for technological and intelligence use. Contributions from numerous branches in D/N, D/S, D/I, and D/A were received and a summary position presenting 25X1A9a the EPA viewpoint was submitted to the working group cha .n-ian.
