MEMORANDUM FOR THE INTELLIGENCE ADVISORY COMMITTEE
SUBJECT : Release of NIE 65-56, "Probable Developments in
Indonesia to Certain Foreign Governments
1. The Board of National Estimates has reviewed NIE 65-56
with a view to its release' to certain foreign governments and considers
the following factors pertinent:
a. Precedent. The last estimate on Indonesia,
NIE 65-55, as released

b. Reciprocity.

co Classification and Sources. Release of this estimate
would not compromise any NOFORN material or intelligence
sources for which CIA is responsible. The Board is not in a
position to determine whether release would involve any
compromise of sources or NOFORN data for which other
agencies are primarily responsible.
d. Substantive. With respect to substantive content
otherwise,
the Board perceives no objection to release.

2. Conclusion. On the basis of the above factors, including
precedent and the mutuality of interest in this area, and subject to
review by other agencies of the question of compromise of sources
and NOFORN materials, the Board perceives no objection, from an
intelligence viewpoint,
