OTHER ACTIVITIES 1. Members of the Slavic department have begun the work of improving and revising the text for the Russian Basic RSW (FT) course. In addition to adding a variety of drills, parts of the text will be revised through the removal of certain materials and the addition of others. 2. Czech Basic RSW (FT) ended on 16 January. The students will continue in a special Intermediate phase, principally with the instructor provided by the Czech desk, until 6 March, dividing their time between LAS and FSI. 3. The School's first full-time Greek course began 19 January with /7 five A t d gency s u ents and dent. Tain oourse, emphasizing spoken Greek, will be taught by der (supervision. It is sched- v .+vuvu .SCta to t ays, but may have to be extended beyond that. is assuming his Japanese-teaching duties while he is gone. 5. Intermediate and advanced language training materials in the form of tape recordings taken from Berlin Radio and lists of available movies have been received from EE Division. These materials are most welcome in view of the increasing interest in more advanced German train- ing and our efforts to improve our tape holdings at the upper levels. We are listening to the tapes and will attempt to establish a continuing arrangement for obtaining such materials from the field. 5.
