1. Plans for the move of the LAS Area and Planning Staffs
to Quarters Eye are well in hand. These plans con emp
a more efficient room arrangement, including a combined
language and area library, a seminar room and one additional
large lecture room as well as the necessary offices and
small course rooms.
2. With the assistance of LAS is undertaking an
expanded program of film previewing, in order to discover
and obtain these commercial and other films most suitable
and effective for language and area training. Viewed
yesterday was the world famous Pather Panchali, an Indian
feature film of village life on the Indian Sub-continent.
The film will not only be good for area training but its
Bengali sound track makes it most useful for language
training.
3. Fifteen people reported for Proficiency tests last week in
Italian, Polish and Japanese.
44 Forty Certifications for Language Award certificates were
sent to the Registrar last week.
