B. OTHER ACTIVITIES
1.I and I visited for his help in surfacing names of
senior Agency specialists on Soviet strategy. We wish to en-
list the services of one such official to co-chair certain
sessions of our forthcoming second offering of the Senior
Area Seminar. This course, to run in November with the title
"The European Security Problem," will embrace both Western
is our first nominee, and I plan to see him shortly with our
proposition. Our approaches to three nationally known guest
specialists must be made early in September.
2. During my attendance at the Maxwell Institute in August,
will prepare a tentative outline of the proposed Regions
Survey on the Balkans. On my return, we shall visit the
appropriate branches in EE and ORE to determine the relative
degree of their interest in this course as compared with
their reported desire for an early second running of the
Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Poland course. The latter will
include Hungary for the next offering and will be renamed
RS - East Central Europe for simplicity.
3. With approval of SO/TR, our large wall chart on area training
courses now greets those using the new Quarters Eye entrance.
VAS/ISB/TR is to be commended for a most eye-appealing job,
which was completed just in time for the dedication of this
entrance. We hope to obtain hand-out size prints of the
chart for briefing purposes and will forward a copy to you.
