STUYVESANT WAINWRIGHT
STUY VESANT WAINWRIGHT, Republican, of Wainscott, N. Y-;
born in Now York, N. Y.. March 16, 1921; Yale University and Yale
School; married Janet Parsons; four children, Stuyvesant 3d,
Jonathan Mayhew, Snowden, and Laura Livingston; enlisted as a
private immediately after Pearl Harbor, rose through the ranks, and
served as commanding officer of the First Army 0SS wits in France;
served an intelligence coordination in the War Department in Washington,
D. C.; discharged as captain; now holds rank as a major in the Active
Army Reserves; first Member of Congress and Reservist to take the
combat parachute training course with the 82d Airborne Division (1956);
member of the law firm of Wainwright & Matthews; member
University Club (N. Y. ), Union Club of New York City, Masonic Lodge,
Phi. Delta Phi, and a vestryman of St. Luke's Episcopal
Church; elected to the Eighty-third Congress November 4, 1952;
reelected to the Eighty- fourtiCongress November 2. 1954; reelected
to the Eighty-fifth Congress November 6, 1956; reelected to the
Eighty-siiath Congress.
