Memorandum for: The Director of Central Intelligence
Subject: Breakfast with the Eighty-Second
Republican Club on Z2 February.
1. There is attached herewith a copy of the report on
communism in Guatemala and Latin America prepared by
Congressman Hillings as a one man task force of the Kersten
Committee on Communist Aggression. You will recall that
we were of some assistance to Congressman Hillings on his
trip to Guatemala, particularly in arranging to give him access
to the documentation available there. Mr. Hillings is the pre-
sent President of the 82nd Republican Club.
2. There is also attached herewith a special defector
bill which Congressman Hillings introduced in the. 83rd Congress
and has now re-introduced. At his request. we rendered cer-
tain drafting assistance to Mr. Hillings in originally preparing
this bill, although we have not sponsored it in any way.
3. Congressman Timothy Sheehan, of Illinois, is also
a member of this group and may be present at the breakfast.
I am therefore attaching herewith correspondence which you
have had with Congressman Sheehan regarding his allegations
on security policies and possible pro-Communist sympathizers
in CIA.
