C. 1 October 1916 IF, RA=M Fit. THE CHIEF, WASHINGTON DOCUMENT CENTER: SUBJECT: Evaluation of WDC No. 252276. 1. This translation is extremely valuable inasmuch as it contains many details heretofore not available on the Soviet Far Eastern Communi- cations network. No errors are discernible in the translations, however, clarification is desired, if possible, on the following points. a. On pages 5 and 6 there is an explanation of the relation- ship of the Raion Communications Offices to the Regional Superintendent Bureaus, but no explanation of the relation of the Direct Control Field Offices of Cities to the Regional Superintendent Bureaus. b. on the same pages., why are Vladivostok and Kharbarovsk listed as Secondary Supervisory Superintendent Bureaus as well as main Regional Communications Superintendent Bureaus? c. The legend in the Chart indicates the distinction between railroad communications lines and Commissariat communications lines, but no differentiation is used in plotting the lines. Is it possible to tell from the original document whether it is the railroad or Commissariat communications line which crosses from one side to the other of the railway right-of-way? 2. It is requested that a copy of this translation be forwarded to Eurasian Branch, ID, as soon as possible, because the inform tion can be used to advantage immediately. /s/ Richard park, Jr. RICHARD PARK, Jr. Colonel, GSC Chief, Eurasian Branch S E C R E T Approved For Release 2003/12/02 : CIA-RDP58-00597A000100090028-4
