Approved For Release 2000/08/25: CIA-RDP57AQ 8001300230014-0 STATOTHR Yery truly yours, STATOTHR Dear Zd; 11 February 1949 31.1 STATOTHR On receipt of your letter concernin I made a few inquiries through the proper people. This is one of the unfortunate cases that rise to plague us from time to time. She made her application at the worst possible time because we were then in the middle of a log jam due to the Impossibility of completing investigations while the enormous burden of the Presidentee Loyalty Program was occupying the full time of the investigative agencies. We are just now getting our heads above water, and, of course, there were many priority re nests that were nut ahead of the routine applications, case is still active, and we have no excuse for the ac aM she has not received the routine acknowledgements that are normally sent out every nonth or two. They would not have told her anything, but, at least they give assurance of ?pro- er consideration. Would you. intercede for us and ask for a little more patience as I under- stand that the final answer should come along in about a montht of course, I have no way of knowing what the final answer will be. Thanks for your interest in the case and never hesitate to call on me as we are all interested to know when we have "muff ed" one so we ca correct the situation as soon as possible. Best regards to Nancy, and if we can ever find time to make our trips to or from Charlottesville more leisurely, we will stop by to call.
