The fourth of the projected six chapters has been completed. Before proceeding with new material, the first chapter is being revised at several points as a result of comments by DD/TR(G). Project 53-23, Development of New Lanpua a and Area Pro s. Three candi- dates are in process for entry into a two-year Japanese Language-Area Pro- gram.. OTR has been requested by OCI to select an appropriately qualified JO to be processed into the program for assignment to OCI upon completion of his training assignment. OCI has also requested that a JO, with a back- ground in economics and competence at the master's level, be selected and recruited for processing into a two-year training program on China. This project has been made the subject of a separate memorandum, copies of which have been furnished to the Chiefs, Junior Officer Training Division, Pro- gram.s..Division, and Language Services Division. 14.
