Rt URS I, Pggpose: To establish a plan of action to be followed by all personnel when a fire occurs in and around the hangar during duty hours, II, Sae: Provisions of this SOP apply to all personnel. III. Resgonsibilities: The Fire Marshall is responsible for insuring adherence to the provisions of this SOP? IV. Pcedures: A. Generally, the duties to be performed fall into five broad categories, and will be performed in the following orders (1) Alerting personnel of a fire, (2) Evacuating aircraft from hangar to the run-up pads. (3) Obtaining help from Base Fire Department- (4) Fighting the fire- (5) Saving equipment. B. When a fire is discovered, it will be reported immediately to the Administration Office. Administration personnel will make an announcement over the P.A. system alerting all personnel that there is a fire and giving the location of the fire. (1) EXAMPLE: "Attention all personnel, attention all personnel, fire, fire, tire. Fire on the hangar floor." (2) This announcement should be repeated as necessary. In addition to making the above announcement, Administration personnel will telephone the Base Fire Department by calling 077; and informing personnel that there is a fire. D, As soon as the fire alert has been received, crew chiefs will immediately begin to evacuate their respective aircraft to the run-up pads, E. Personnel nearest the fire will use 002 fire extinguishers to fight fuel and/or electrical fires (class B and C)a Fire hoses will be used on paper., cloth or wood fires (class A)4 F. Personnel will lock classified material in their safes,, close their office or shop doors, eve the door yAl2cked) AND EVACUATE THE HANGAR. G., In the above procedures? personal safety will be paramount. H. Discipline will be maintained by all personnel and orders issued by the senior official on duty at the time of the fire will be obeyed= however, after the Base Fire Department arrives on the scenes all personnel will obey the orders of the Fire Chief. 1. Supervisors will be aware of where and what their personnel are doing at all times during the fire, V. SPECIFIC PROCEDURES: A. If a fire occurs on the hangar floor, the following action will, be (1) The fire will be reported to the Administration Office immediatelye (2) The senior maintainance person will take charge of all activity on the hangar floor,. (3) Crew chiefs will evacuste their aircraft. (5) Doors leading to offices, shops and the hallway will be closed, but not locked. (6) At least two persons each from Supply and Special Equipment will standby the water fire hoses near their res- pective areas, and will-be ready to use the hoses as directed. (7) Personnel, other than maintainance personnel, will leave the hangar floor and return to their offices and shops to secure their classified material and evacuate the hangar. B. If a fire occurs in offices or shops, the following action will be taken: (1) The fire will be reported to the Administration Office immediately. (2) Procedures outlined above in Paragraph A of Section V will be followed by personnel situated on the hangar floor.
