SUBJECT: Pilot Ejection System Utilization
1. Purpose: To establish a standard procedure for the utilization
of the ejection seat.
a. General: It will be the responsibility of the Detachment
Commander to implement the provisions herein outlined. All previously
published dictates relative to circumstantial control of the Pilot
Ejection System are hereby rescinded. Departures from enumerations
below will require prior approval from the Project Director of
Operations or his deputy.
b. Specific:
(1) Manadorsr Utilization
(a) For all flights conducted for check out,
familiarization and proficiency purposes.
(b) For all engineering flights. (Test hops,
host engine change, periodic inspections, etc.)
(c) For all flights conducted for weather research
purposes.
(d) For all flights conducted for purposes of
equipment testing. (Flight testing of new systems,
(e) For all ferrying missions not involving
penetrations or traversing denied territory.

(2) Conditioned Utilization - Installation of the
Pilot Ejection System for the following type flights will be
as directed by flight planning factors and mission situation
as well as the Commander's decision and pilot's desires:
(a) Flights involving penetrations.
(b) Flights traversing denied territory.
(c) Evacuations necessitated by severe weather.
(d)

(3) Report will contain information as to
whether the ejection seat is to be installed for flights outlined
in paragraphs 2a and b above.
