SUBJECT : Briefing a SAC Headquarters
2. On 6 January 1959 1 briefed as follows:
a. CHALICE. I showed the approved mission
25X1A6a from _ which was intended to photograph suspected ICBM launch
sites along the Polyarnny orals railway. He was most interested and
asked whether or not we might be able to go back and get it at some
later date. I advised him that if the series of missions now planned are
25X1A6a successful, it I. planned to return to =around the first of May to
complete this mission and others for which presidential approval would
be sought.

covered the background and development of the CORONA project with
aphasia on the fact that BM would do the shooting and handling, but
that CIA developed the camera package and has made arrangements for
high quality processing equipment. The biomedical aspects of the
shots were discussed as well as the USAF air snatch recovery technique.

camera packages have been completed. A schedule of firings was
given as approximately one per month starting about 9 January with the
first camera package being launched in April or early May.
