REFERENCE Subject Program Approval (DPD-3467-59)
1. I am returning herewith unsigned the Program Approval for
Jammers for the P-?.V aircraft. I have previously discussed this matter
with I believe it was a misunderstanding that I had already
approved this proposal in principle.
2. My return to you doe* not imply that I am unalterably opposed
to it. I do wish to he assured, however, that we have made a diligent search
fer already developed devices in the Air Force and Navy inventory which
might serve this purpose. When we sought a repeater jammer for the TT
we required a device of extreme restrictions concerning weight and space
and therefore po,,.ver. In the case of the P-ZV this is presumably no nrnhlem.
. If it appears that the attached proposal is the beat way to deal
with the problem and depending somewhat on the availability of funds, I would
he prepared to approve it.
