Declassified in Part- Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2013/07/18: CIA-RDP11M01422R000500030040-8 Journal - Office of Legislative Counsel Page 5 Thursday - 25 August 1977 S 20. LIAISON I called Alan Bergreen,TAT of Representative Frederick W. Richmond's (D., N. Y.) office, referring to his request of 24 August for information on CIA analysis of coffee prices. Based on advice from DDI/CSS, I STAT noted that his reference to Dan Rather's comments in the "Sixty Minutes!' broadcast of late July referred to speculation by Mr. Rather on manipulation of coffee prices, etc., not to actual analyses being undertaken by the Agency. I told Mr. Bergreen that there was almost nothing on coffee prices activity that was not unclassified. I cited two recent relevant CIA statements which I said I would send to him on 26 August. He then raised questions about some 1975 graphs credited to CIA which he had seen in a Treasury Department memo dated I May 1975 on the 14-25 April 1975 Working Group Meeting of the International Coffee Organization, and asked if he could have copies of the graphs. I referrf--S-4 TAT the request to STAT 21. LIAISON I received a call from Pat Greer, in Senator Jake Gam's (R., Utah) district office. She wanted to know who to address a letter to at the Agency concerning employment for their constituent, I asked that she STAT send it to the attention of Mr. George Cary, Legislative Counsel, and we would respond accordingly. She said she would do this and thanked me for my help. STAT 22. BRIEFING Called Mike O'Neil, Counsel, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, and told him that we had learned of a trip Representative Les Aspin (D., Wis. ), a member of the Permanent Select Committee, was about to take to the Far East and told O'Neil that we would like to be of service to the Congressman if he had any need. He suggested that we call the Congressman's office directly. STAT 23. LIAISON David Shaw, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, called with some follow-up details to Senator Richard G. Lugar's visit to the Agency on 24 August. I satisfied his requests. STAT nRciassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release 2013/07/18: CIA-RDP11M01422R000500030040-8
