The Director talked to Senator Hayden on the phone and inquired as to whether the Senator wished to meet with him at any time during this Session. The Senator was not at all enthusiastic about a meeting and seemed to take the view that inasmuch as we had our money, there wasn't any need to get together. The Director expressed a concern about the fact that we had had no meeting with the Appropriations Subcommittee this year, and mentioned the possible future implications of this fact if the joint committee matter comes up again. He then suggested the possibility of a get-together with Hayden and Saltonstall. Senator Hayden stated, however, that everyone was very ,busyat this time, and said that he would see the Director next Session. 2. The Director also called Chairman Cannon and asked for an opportunity to appear before his Subcommittee in connection with the answers to the 46 written questions. A meeting was set up for the following day. a5 - 10 /0 128 =CIA-RDPO1T- 177 8000300110035-2'
