SUBJECT: SSCI Release of Declassified Transcripts
of Sidney Gottlieb Testimony on Drug
Testing Programs
1. Last week, the SSCI completed its review of the
declassified transcripts of Sidney Gottlieb's testimony
before the SSCI in 1975 on the MKULTRA project and other
behavioral control research programs. On Friday, 11 August,
the Committee approved the release of the transcript to the
Office of General Counsel for use in depositions in an
ongoing litigation, Kronisch. Executrix of the Estate of
Stanley Milton Glickman v. US. 83 Civ. 2458, S.D.N.Y.
(referred to as the Glickman case). On 14 August, the
Office of General Counsel received a copy of the
declassified transcripts. OGC immediately sent a copy to
plaintiff's counsel. _

3. Information on MKULTRp, and other behavioral control
research programs conducted in the 1950s and 1960s has been
declassified and released to the public under the Freedom of
Information Act. These programs, which included
experimentation with LSD, were also well documented in the
Church Committee report. Nevertheless, it is possible that
either the Olson family or the plaintiff in the Glickman
case may make public statements concerning these transcripts
