Pursuant to our recent conversation, it is requested that the necessary preliminary arrangements be effected for my proposed survey of your area on or about 1 August 1951. The following pertinent factors are submitted with the understanding that the itinerary or any operational implications are subject to approval by you or (b)(3) (b)(6) (1) desirable to vi meeting be held promise. Purpose (1) To personally visit those installations or areas where FE medical support is represented by physi- cians, and to assist, advise and confer with these officers as necessary in order to aid them in the accom- plishment of their specialized missions. (21 To evaluate by personal observation and on-the- spot briefing, the status of logistical and other support functions with medical aspects, so that problems of requirements, commitments and nising can be effectively and more convincingly transmitted to the responsible offices at Headquarters. (3) To visit such sites as you may designate where medical facilities do not yet exist, but which will require some preliminary survey for the purpoee of planning and estimating future medical personnel and equipment needs. b. If, by 1 Augusts there are any other physicians assigned to your field stations, it would be desirable to include them in this survey. Periods indicated will obviously be subject to wide variations, depending upon local circum- stances. Travel time has not beenincluded. c. Availability date (1) Preferably about 1 August 1951, total absence from hashington no longer than 4 weeks, unless circum- stances require. cl. e. It is requested that all executive arrangements be handled by your office, although my office will be glad to absorb any routine aspects, such as typing of necessary forms, i'land carrying, etc. This is not to imply a desire for special pri- vilege; past performances have indicated that such a trip is more adroitly manared at front office level.
