(U/iFflkftCYTGreg Miller (Washington Post) plans to post a story online tonight alleging that the White
House has been attempting to use IC agencies and key members of Congressional intelligence
committees to push back on news stories asserting extensive Russian contacts with Trump officials.
Miller will note that such a role by the IC is an unusual and possibly improper considering the
matter is under investigation. Today, the WH stated publicly that FBI had authorized the WH Chief
of Staff to state publicly last weekend that "senior intelligence officials" had informed him that
stories about extensive Russian contacts were inaccurate.
(U/146.) Barbara Starr (CNN) and Bob Windrem (NBC) had numerous questions on reports that VX
nerve agent was used to kill the North Korean leader's half-brother -- such as how does this attack
change the US calculation about the threat posed by North Korea? Does CIA believe the nerve agent
used came from the North Korean regime? Does North Korea have stockpiles of VX, and have they
used VX to attack anyone previously.
(UH.LCILlerieff Seldin (VOA) followed up on allegations that Russia tried to eliminate certain political
figures in Montenegro and interfere with its election. He also wanted to know more about the new
Russian military division that is devoted to fake news.
