(U) For Thanksgiving this year, Susan, Nick and I count it as a blessing to be part of the Agency family. We have felt
privileged to get to know you, to visit with officers and their loved ones stationed far from home, and to share the joy of
serving our nation. We give thanks for being within this circle of fellowship and patriotism, and for living in the most
just and free country in the world.
(U) As President Eisenhower, a great Kansan and a great American, put it in his Thanksgiving Proclamation of 1958:
"We rejoice in the beauty of our land; in every brave and generous act of our fellow man; and in the wise counsel and
comfort of our friends. We deeply appreciate the preservation of those ideals of liberty and justice which form the basis
of our national life and the hope of international peace."
