Eight years ago this Saturday, we at CIA lost seven of our finest during a brutal terrorist attack in Khowst, Afghanistan.
These brave officers demonstrated the highest standards of duty and sacrifice at the forefront of our fight against
terrorism.
We will forever honor the memory of these exemplary patriots�Harold Brown, Elizabeth Hanson, Darren LaBonte,
Jennifer Matthews, Dane Paresi, Scott Roberson, and Jeremy Wise�who perished while serving their country as
dedicated Americans and devoted Agency officers.
The story of these men and women is a poignant reminder of the unwavering courage of our officers serving at the front
lines�often at tremendous risk to themselves�to keep our great country safe.
As we reflect upon the challenges and successes of the past year, I ask that we pause to remember our fallen colleagues
whose legacy of valor, resilience, and skill lives on through the work you do each day. Please keep their families in
your thoughts and prayers, for we know that the pain of this loss�as deep as it is for us�is even greater for them.
