(U) My first six weeks at CIA have been an utterly fascinating introduction to the job of leading our Agency, not to
mention a whirlwind of activity. Now that I've had some time to reflect, I would like to share some of my impressions
to date.
(U) For starters, the single best decision I've made so far was to choose Gina Haspel as our Deputy Director. Gina
knows CIA inside out, she's tremendously well versed on the full range of Agency operations, and she is a joy to work
with. We couldn't be more fortunate than to have her on our leadership team.
(U) A large part of my daily schedule has been spent preparing for and delivering the President's Daily Brief. President
Trump is an eager recipient of your collection and analysis, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that your
findings are essential to framing the issues under discussion at Principals Committee meetings. Representing your work
at the White House has been one of the great privileges of the job.

(U) There's news too on the home front I finally closed on a house in late February and moved my family belongings
from Kansas. My family will now be living with me here in Virginia, which is a luxury I never had while serving in
Congress. We feel very proud to be part of the Agency family, and I look forward to getting to know all of you better in
days and weeks ahead. Thank you for your warm welcome and support during my first few weeks on the job.
