GORDON NOVEL asked Mr. Goodwin about the letter. Mr. Goodwin replied that our
people would not engage in this. Novel said you know I have a law suit and
Garrison on the ropes. the answers were to be sent around to someone who
was supposed to get them. Novel said he is being asked a lot of questions by
PLAYBOY (?) 'about ARMCO. I did not know what to do so I said I didn't want to
talk about it because I might be violating the National Security Act of 1947.
You might be familiar with Mr. Leek (sp?) in New Orleans. Mr. Goodwin said he
was not. Novel said it didn't matter and he didn't want to discuss it over the
phone. The Grand Jury did not return an indictment in Homa
January, February 1961 the Cuban Committee holding up the front in New
Orleans. Novel said his attorney, Wayne G. Pietro (or de Atro) was on the
line. He said he would like to tell how it all came about; he is going to
spell out what was in the dump and everything else that was there. Novel said
he was the first one to call Garrison a fraud. When Garrison used your agency
for the whipping boy Novel said he is telling the truth about the Cubans
involved in 1961. If he could get that letter he would be in a much better
position. No one can make mileage out of it. Novel stated he has only one thing
in mind and that is to finish Garrison for good--historically. Well, Novel said as
far as the Agency is concerned, they don't care about Homa. Mr. Goodwin explained
that he was not competent to answer his questions. Novel then asked "Wayne
where do we go from here?" Wayne said as long as this info/nation cannot be
revealed by the Agency, then you will have to answer all the questions. Mr.
Goodwin thanked Novel for calling.
