Bashir's brother Amin probably is the favorite now, but many Bashir loyalists may oppose him. Phalange Party founder Pierre Jumayyil has come out of retirement to take charge of party affairs, probably hoping to pave the way for Amin to win wider party rec- ognition as its new leader. If the party cannot agree e Pierre could offer on Amin or another stron himself as a compromise. his candidacy might encourage serious divisions within the Phalange. 2 Top Secret TCS 2917/82 16 September 1982 (b)(3) (b)(1) (b)(3) (b)(1) (b)(3) (b)(3) Approved for Release: 2019/07/16 C06806141
